About brand
“Masser formaggi”
The company's history begins in 1890, when Basso Basso, also known as Bassett, and his determined wife Antonia, solemnly opened a wine, liquor, and spice shop in Maser. Soon, thanks to Antonia's skills and market demand, the business changed and became a cheese trade. They sold cheese in street markets in Azolo, Cornuda, and even Montebelluna... The business prospered, and Basso and Antonia's children began to be involved; Sebastiano started collecting grape leaves to wrap cheese when he was in third grade.
The founder of the company, Basso Basso, passed away in 1903, but his wife Antonia did not give up. She continued the business together with her sons and brother Eugenio. In 1915, the company expanded its product range, selling little-known cheese varieties at the time on the street, such as Emmental, Provolone, and even Grana. These were the years when Sebastiano rode his Harley Davidson back and forth across the Po plain to taste and choose the best cheese.
Two World Wars, a prolonged shortage, and the Wall Street Crash of 1929 were what the Masser company faced. Since Antonia's sons were fighting in the army during World War I, she only continued to sell cheese to hospitals and military headquarters with the help of her brother Eugenio. Returning from the war, Sebastiano dealt with a long economic stagnation. He and his family agreed to protect the business by diversifying investments and buying agricultural land. The strongest companies are those created in difficult times.
After World War II, Masser was one of the first distributors to perfect vacuum packaging, thus returning to its role as a qualified supplier to wholesalers both in Italy and abroad. The quality of the product is confirmed by its taste over time.
In the early 1950s, the company came under the management of the descendants of the family - the Baso brothers, Baso and Antonio. During their leadership, the brothers immediately noted several social transformations that occurred as a result of the growth of new consumer habits. Under their direction, the brand grew and gained popularity in the market. The company continued its development and expanded its range, producing both traditional and new types of cheese.
Today, Maser formaggi produces more than 50 types of cheeses and cheese-based products that are exported to more than 50 countries worldwide. The brand continues to adhere to traditional recipes and use the best ingredients to ensure the highest quality of its products.
